Since opening our doors in
September, we have been inundated with a wide variety of jobs big and small. This has kept the team extremely
busy and happily working away making sails, covers
and a range of canvas work and accessories. We have been delighted with
the support from the local sailing fraternity and the coming on board of new customers from
far and wide. Sam, Mac and Chris have been working hard to exceed
expectations in providing a fast, reliable and quality service that you should
expect.
Chris has been kept busy, with new sails for Moody,
Westerly, Seal and Hunter yachts on the menu, together with a
35ft Gaffer and a 33ft custom built cruising Catamaran.
Alongside the new sails, we have been providing the usual servicing, repair
and alteration services. Don’t forget, if you
haven’t already done so, we can service and clean your sails and canvas work before the season
starts.
With the addition of a new Sailmaker to our team, we are diving
headfirst into the dinghy racing market and already have sails on the water in the
Hornet, Merlin Rocket and Wanderer classes with more to come.
The
Canvas Department have been kept busy making all manner of spray hoods,
cockpit enclosures and covers. In spite of the dreadful weather
this winter, we have got out at every opportunity to take patterns and measurements. We are diversifying and expanding the canvas business all the time with
new projects including deck awnings and canvas work for a new 300ft vessel that is
under construction.
We are developing new accessories from padded dinghy
toe straps, mast and boom bags to halyard bags and shade sails, along with our range of
attractive and durable sailcloth kit bags, holdalls,
shopping bags, bean bags and wine carriers etc. all of which can be
customised to your requirements and are manufactured in house by our
experienced Sailmaking team.
The new season is fast approaching (and don’t we all hope for some decent weather!)
so come and see us and discuss any requirements you may have, or
just pop in for a chat and a coffee. We shall be very pleased to help
and advise you in any way we can and we look forward to showing you our sail
loft in Topsham, located opposite Darts Farm on Dart Business Park.
Happy
Sailing, from The Exe Sails & Covers Team
