FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I start?

Please give us a call or send us an email!

If emailing, please provide pictures of your boat and the make/model, the boat’s location and the type of cover you need. This should give us enough information to provide you with a quote. We’ll discuss lead times and decide on fabric/colour choices, and if you’re happy, we’ll send across a 50% deposit invoice to secure your build slot.

If we have a pattern that will match your boat (and it’s configuration!) then we won’t need to template it. But if we do need to template your boat, we will arrange a suitable date and time with you for us to template your boat (this could be on land, on a mooring, in a marina, etc.), or alternatively you are welcome to bring your boat to us and we can template it at our workshop in Topsham.

We’ll then be in touch when your cover is complete!

What are your current lead times?

Lead times vary throughout the year depending on workload, seasonal demand and the type of sail/cover required. During busy periods they may extend, while quieter months allow for faster turnaround.

The best way to get an accurate lead time for your specific job is to contact us – we’ll let you know our current schedule and availability.

Is my order ready yet?

We do our best to communicate lead times and stick to them!

Rest assured, we will be in touch once your work is complete. You’ll be send a final balance invoice with instructions on collection/fitting/shipping (depending on what was agreed when you placed your order).

If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact us.

Do I need to book an appointment to collect my item?

No – just visit us during our opening times but please check our social media first or give us a call ahead of time so that we can make sure someone is available to help you.

Will you fit my cover?

Once your cover is complete and if your boat needs additional fittings to secure it, either we can install and fit for you, or we can provide the fittings for you to install and fit yourself. It completely depends on you and your boat, but we will talk you through the options and agree a plan when you place your order!

For example, all-over mooring covers for RIBs are built with ease of use in mind and attach to the rubbing strake with hooks so you can easily fit/remove yourself.

Can you work from my old cover as a template?

In some instances we can – but the best option is for us to template the boat ourselves to ensure the best precision fit.

Do you hold patterns for my boat?

We hold a large number of Highfield patterns, plus patterns for other popular RIBs, such as Ribeye. If we don’t have your exact model, we can template your boat if you are within our service area or you can bring your boat to us.

Can you make covers for custom setups?

Absolutely. We regularly produce covers for boats with different configurations – we specialise in custom covers.

How is pricing calculated?

Pricing depends on the boat model, cover type, materials and any custom requirements. We aim to provide clear quotes before any work begins.

Repairs are priced on our hourly rate – until we have fully assessed your repair we won’t be able to provide an accurate quote. Although we will strive to provide a rough estimate prior to work beginning.

Can you repair or modify my existing cover?

Yes. We can repair existing covers, add reinforcements, replace fittings or adjust an existing cover depending on its condition.

How do I look after my cover?

We recommend rinsing with fresh water, avoiding harsh chemicals and ensuring the cover is dry before taking off for storage. Proper care extends the life of the fabric and fittings.

Do you sell cover parts and sail parts?

Yes – we supply a wide range of cover parts and sail parts from our workshop. Whether you need replacement parts or upgrades, we can provide marine-grade components. If you’re unsure what you need, contact us and we’ll be able to advise.

Can you help if I’m not sure what cover I need?

Absolutely – we provide free advice and can recommend the best design for your boat’s usage and storage conditions.

How quickly can I have my sail/cover laundered?

Our laundry service is generally a weeks’ turnaround. During busier periods this may increase.

Do you offer a sail/cover recycling service?

Unfortunately not at this time.

Do you have any stock covers available?

Please give us a call or an email to check and see if we have any stock – we are working to update our website with an updated list.
